Anxiety & Mindfulness

We live in a fast paced society with high demands and even higher stress levels. It can be difficult to find a satisfying work/life balance, leaving one to feel overwhelmed and exhausted. Anxious feelings can develop when we don’t see a way out of this hectic lifestyle and our overly packed schedule begins to feel suffocating.

You may be feeling irritable, tense, tired, keyed up, and struggling to fall asleep at night. Perhaps you are experiencing an overarching feeling of insecurity in your relationships and find yourself continually ruminating on the worst-case scenario, wondering if your needs will ever be met.

When we feel stressed and anxious our fight or flight response is activated. This response in our nervous system floods our body with enough oomph to get us out of harm’s way and keep us from being Mr. Lion’s lunch. Continual or overuse of this system is draining on our body and can lead to mental and physical health issues.

Along with exploring the underlying causes of your anxiety, we will also implement mindfulness practices. Learning to listen to your body’s signals, tune into your breath, and recognize what triggers your anxiety will give you the necessary tools to find relief.
